Developing Ideas for Older Children

All of the songs on my CD have the potential to be adapted and developed.  Kate realised the potential of the Sunshine Song and developed it vocally by using the harmonies, included movement and then costumes to create a performance for parents and staff alike.

Costumes for performing Sunshine Song

"As a singing teacher in key stage one,  I was able to use “What’s in Lindy’s Bag” to enhance my repertoire with older children (aged between 5 and 7) using some of the songs. One in particular - 'Sunshine' was a big hit with the children.

I was able to develop it from being a song by creating movement and then adding painted costumes and letting individual children choose to be the sun, wind, rain or rainbow.

Another idea is to let children explore the songs and encourage them to develop them: musically, into stories and/or visual interpretations.

This Cd isn't just for 0-5 year olds, as kate has shown, it is also an ideal tool designed to encourage learning and creativity for children in Reception and Year 1 as well.

We then performed it very successfully  in our summer concert and the parents loved it.       Thank you Lindy"
